My “final” newsletter is vetoed and no statement is issued by the school until Thursday. More affectionate emails arrive from staff, and come Thursday evening i receive a couple of phone calls from irate parents. It touches me greatly.
Come Friday morning and i am contacted by the Swedish School wanting
to meet me. I am picked up on Monday morning to see the school. Numbers are
very small – no more than 70 students, but their campus and resources are far
superior. I have been invited back for a second interview next week with
members of the Board.
The school inspection from external assessors from Kenya seems to
have gone well both for the Primary and Secondary divisions. However, their
feedback quickly identifies the poor top management structure and the
bottlenecks in place. and they are horrified by Sly Giraffe – “arrogant and
quite possibly racist” notes the inspectorate team. The “Resources Committee”
and “Hiring Committee” is deemed comical.
But the written report will only go only to Boss and she will do her
usual editing before being disseminated.
I miss my kids like crazy.
