New Year's Eve

It’s late as i make my home on foot down the muddy track from school to my apartment. It’s New Year’s Eve as they start their thirteenth month. Time is seriously weird here as i have previously blogged in a previous incarnation on my travels through Africa.

On the main road i notice a dark shadow lying on  the road. It's a large wide sealed road, but it's poorly lit and black as pitch.  Looking more closely i can make out that it’s a human body. Cars are swerving out the way but nobody stops. Shit! I go up to the motionless body and shout at “it”. Nothing. I slap the heap but nothing. It's wrapped in a large baggy shawl and the face is covered in a dark blue scarf, so i don't even know what sex it is.

Holy Shit - it's dead! I then give “it” a kick in the ribs and i’m delighted to be greeted with a low grunt of a living man. People are walking past nonchalantly and probably wondering what this strange ferangi is doing? I can’t move the body by myself, but i persuade a passer-by to help me move the drunken guy of the road and onto the pavement.
