It’s Sunday morning and both Ms J and
myself are in the school compound doing a final walk-thru on Maintenance. The
students are due to arrive in less than 24 hours and despite the best efforts
of my management team to try and relax me, i’m both tense and nervous.
Maintenance staff were paid the their bonus and overtime yesterday and i guess they're still celebrating. Only the Cabana (Security Staff) and the Pre-Kindy class Babysitter is on site. It's not her job to do it but she is literally cleaning the shit off the door of their toilet. It's nothing short of repulsive.
We walk about further and encounter the good, the bad and the ugly.
picking up rubbish from the sand-pit
Ms Jill removing rusted wire on the goal-posts. She'd been picking up rocks from the sandpit earlier
A swampy sink
it's just not good
Well at least the playground doesn’t
look so much like my Haitian orphanage anymore, and i’m prepared to open the
school to students tomorrow. Providing the enormous damaged slide is removed as
it’s centre-piece.
