Pavilion Cafe

Opposite my school lies The Pavilion Cafe – and it’s my oasis.

It has a hacienda feel (indeed the same colour as my beautiful school in Colombia) – with a grass courtyard in the centre.

Machiatos are plentiful, the food good and their boaz shiro (local meat stew) is the best i’ve tasted. I regularly hold my PMT (Primary Management Team) meeting with Mr Z and Miss J after school on Fridays and we’ve also done a couple of SMT meetings in the courtyard too.

But not for much longer. The jolly buxom owner informs me that despite it usually filled with Unity College students and my teachers, the profits are low. She is going to rent it out, and would my school want to expand?

Absolutely i do. Our rented building is at bursting point with no further rooms available, and if we were to move our Pre-Kindy and Kindergarten kids, we could free up six classrooms. My littlest kids could have a lush site with real grass to run around and sculptured gardens. Indeed, the Depeartment of Education insist that Kindy kids have their own purpose-built compound, and we are currently technically illegal

But of course, it’s not my decision. I can’t imagine Ato S. having the vision to spend even more money, and of course Boss definitely won’t support it because it will run in direct competition to her own enterprises.
